Jai Mahaveer Rice & Sortex

Jai Mahaveer Rice & Sortex is our place over at Navegaon Naka in Netra. We are situated near Gondia Road, so there is quite a bit of movement with trucks and tractors coming through all the time. We have the Sortex machine, which helps us get the stones and bad grains out, but it can be a real pain to calibrate sometimes. It makes a high-pitched whirring sound that you get used to after a few hours. The mill is basically my second home at this point. I spend more time here than I do anywhere else. We have a big open area where we unload the grain, and it gets pretty crowded when three or four farmers show up at once. There is no real system for who goes first, we just sort of figure it out as we go. The dust gets everywhere, even in my tea if I'm not careful. We have a few guys who help with the loading, and we try to keep a friendly atmosphere even when we are tired. It is a tough business because prices are always changing and the machinery is expensive to fix. We don't have any polished speeches about what we do. We just process rice and try to make sure it is clean. If you come by, you will probably find us covered in flour and trying to fix something that just broke.
