About Shree Shyam Dal And Oil Mills – Food & Beverages in Gonda
Shree Shyam Dal And Oil Mills is located in Nanpara, right near the station road and the local post office. You can usually find us by following the smell of pressed mustard oil. It is a very strong scent that fills the whole street. We have been here for a long time and the building is quite old with high ceilings. Inside, we have the heavy machinery for pressing oil and sorting the dal. The machines make a very loud thumping noise that you can hear from the post office. I took over this mill from my family and I spend most of my day making sure the belts on the machines don't slip. We get raw grain and seeds from the farmers who come in on their tractors. It gets very busy during the harvest time and there is hardly any room to move inside the mill. The floor is a bit oily and slippery, so we have to be careful. We have bags of dal stacked up in the corners and the dust from the lentils hangs in the air. When the trains go by the station, the whole building shakes a little bit. We don't mind it because we have lived here our whole lives. We sell the oil and dal to the local people who bring their own bottles and bags. It is a noisy, messy business, but it is what we know how to do.
