Rit Rural Foundation

This is the Rit Rural Foundation and we operate out of Chhunu Lal in the Padri Kalan area. It’s a bit out of the way for some, but for us, it’s just where we work every day. Being in Padri Kala means things are a bit quieter than in the big cities, which we mostly like. The pace is a little slower here. We spend a lot of our time dealing with things related to the local area. There’s a lot of paperwork, as you might expect. We have a small team, and we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We just have some basic furniture and a few computers that we share. Sometimes we have to go out and meet people where they are, rather than them coming to the office. The roads can be a bit rough after it rains, so that slows us down sometimes. We try to keep everything running smoothly, but it’s just us doing the best we can. We don’t have any fancy titles or anything like that. Everyone just pitches in when there is work to be done. We take our lunch under the big tree outside when the weather is nice. It’s a simple life, but the work we do at the foundation feels necessary for the people around here. We’re just part of the community and we like it that way. We stay until the sun goes down usually.
