Dr D. K. Rao Clinic

We have been operating out of this spot on Station Road in Gonda for a long time. It is right across from the District Male Hospital, so it gets very crowded on the street most mornings. You can hear the rickshaws honking and the people shouting all day. Dr D. K. Rao usually gets in early to start seeing the first batch of people coming from Chedipurwa. The clinic isn't anything special to look at. We have some old wooden benches and a fan that squeaks a bit when it's on high. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we are too busy to deal with that right now. Most folks just stop by because they know where we are. We don't bother with fancy brochures or a website. If you have a fever or a cough, you just come in and wait your turn. Sometimes the wait is long because the doctor likes to talk to everyone for a bit. We keep the patient files in a big metal cabinet that sticks sometimes. It is just a local clinic doing what it can. The dust from the road comes in through the door, so we are always dusting off the table. It is just part of being in this part of Gonda. We are here every day except Sunday, just helping out whoever walks in from the hospital or the station. It's a simple, practical setup for the town. We've got a small jar of candy on the counter for the kids who come in.
