Star Brick Industries

Our business, Star Brick Industries, is located in Khatkhati, near the Shiv Mandir in the Borpathar area of Karbianglong. It’s a nice enough place to work, even if it gets very dusty during the dry season. We’re right near the temple, so we hear the morning prayers every day while we’re starting up the kilns. It’s a pretty busy area with people coming and going. We make standard bricks for all sorts of construction. It’s a lot of manual labor, hauling the raw materials and then stacking the finished products once they’ve cooled. We have a small crew and we all know what needs to be done. Sometimes the trucks coming in from the main road get backed up, but we manage. We don't really have a big office, just a place to sit and talk to customers. People in Karbianglong know where to find us if they’re putting up a new wall or a shed. We aren't doing anything fancy here, just basic brick making. The heat from the fires can be a lot in the summer, so we take plenty of breaks in the shade. We’ve been here for years and we plan on staying. It’s just a matter of getting the orders out on time. If someone needs bricks, they just pull up and we see what we have available. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day for everyone here.
