Out here in Golaghat, specifically in Jyoti Nagar, is where Prabhati Construction is based. We are right by Sri Lakhi Prasad Saikia’s place. It’s a local spot and everyone around knows the area pretty well. Golaghat has its own pace of life, and we try to stick to that. The post office is nearby, which is handy for all the permits and official letters we have to deal with. Our work is mostly focused on local building projects around this part of Assam. It gets hot during the summer, which makes the site work pretty draining for the crew, but we keep pushing through. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that; we just wake up, check the weather, and go see what needs to be done on the projects. Sometimes materials are hard to get delivered all the way out here, so we spend a lot of time on the phone. The office is a bit of a mess with folders and samples of tiles and cement. It’s not a place for show, it’s a place for working. We’ve been part of the community here for a while, so we see the same faces every day. It’s a small town vibe where your reputation is basically just what you did yesterday. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It’s not always easy, but we have been doing this long enough to handle most problems.
