Handral Handicrafts

Handral Handicrafts is located in Shop No. 23 along SH 44 in Sankeshwar. It’s a small shop packed with all sorts of things people make by hand. We have shelves full of wooden items, fabrics, and pottery. The smell of cedar and old paint is always there when you walk in. I spend a lot of time dusting the displays and talking to the folks who bring their work in. It’s a busy road, so we get a lot of people stopping by while they’re traveling through Sankeshwar. The trucks go by pretty fast, and the dust settles on our windows, so we have to wipe them down every single morning. The shop isn't very large, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over with your bag. I sit behind the counter near the window. Most of the stuff we sell comes from nearby villages. It’s not factory-made, so every piece has its own little flaws and marks. I think that’s what makes them interesting. Sometimes a lightbulb goes out and I have to find the ladder to change it. It’s just me most days, keeping an eye on things. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop on the highway. People find us by word of mouth or by seeing the sign as they drive past. It’s a simple life, surrounded by things people worked hard on.
