Bhagaiya Resham Handloom Bunkar Producercompany Limited is a group of us working together. We are in Gram-Kouri Khutahri, near Bhagaiya in the Godda district. Rajiv Ray’s place is where we coordinate everything. We are bunkars, which is just another word for weavers. We work with handlooms to make Resham, which is silk. It’s very traditional work and we’ve been doing it for generations. Our village is a bit out of the way, but that’s where the looms are. We don't have a corporate office or any fancy marketing. We are just a producer company made up of local people. The address 813208 is home to us. We spend our days throwing the shuttle and watching the fabric grow. It’s hard on the back and the eyes, but it’s what we know. We don't have some high-level vision or a polished brand. We just have our hands and our silk. Sometimes the market for handloom is tough, but we keep weaving. We don't use any fancy machinery, just the old ways. It’s a quiet life in Godda. We don’t make big claims about our products.
