We started Subbu Foods India quite a while ago now right here in Amalapuram. It is a quiet place mostly, out in the E.G. District where things move a bit slower than the big cities. Most days start early because the heat gets pretty bad by noon. We spend a lot of time checking on the raw materials that come in from the local markets around K. Agraharam. It’s not fancy work, mostly just making sure things are clean and ready for the machines. The building is at 3-4-15/10 and it’s been our base for years. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back on. We don’t have a big team, just a few local people who know how things should taste. There’s always a lot of dust from the road but we keep the inside tidy. My uncle used to say that if you get the basics right, the rest takes care of itself. We do a lot of heavy lifting and packing by hand. It gets tiring but it is what it is. The neighbors know us well, and we usually have tea together in the evenings when the work is finally done. It’s a simple life running a food business in a small town. We don’t bother with big ads or anything like that. People just find us or they don’t. We just keep our heads down and work.
