Lourdes Convent High School, Saligao, Goa

Our school is located in the village of Saligao, at house number 1014 in the Kanturlim area. It’s a quiet part of Bardez, tucked away from the main tourist roads. The building has been here for a long time and it feels very much like a part of the community. You can usually hear the sound of children playing or the school bell ringing across the fields. We aren't a big, fancy institution with glass walls. It’s a more traditional setup with classrooms that have seen many generations of students. The teachers and staff mostly come from the surrounding villages, so everyone knows each other. We spend our days teaching, grading papers, and looking after the kids. The playground gets dusty in the summer and a bit muddy when the monsoons hit, but that's just how it is. We have a few trees on the property that provide some shade during the breaks. Life here follows the rhythm of the school year. We don't have a lot of high-tech gadgets; it’s mostly just books, chalkboards, and a lot of talking. People in Saligao know us well, and parents often stop by the gate for a quick word. It’s a simple place with a lot of history in these walls. We just try to do our best for the kids every day without making a big deal out of it. It’s a local school for local families, right here in the heart of Goa.
