Out here in Simlabari, we do things a bit differently. Our place is over at Moniruz Zaman’s house. Lakhipur can be a long drive for some people, but this is where we have set up for the training. We have gathered some tools and enough space for people to learn hands-on things. It is an industrial training setup, though it is not some big factory with a gate and guards. Just a simple building where we get to work. Most of us here grew up nearby or in the neighboring villages. We saw a real need for folks to learn actual skills they can use to find work locally. It gets quite dusty in the summer and pretty muddy when it rains. That is just how it is in this part of town and we are used to it. We do not have a marketing team or anyone to answer phones professionally. People just show up because they heard from a friend that we have the right equipment. The local police station is the best landmark to find us. We spend most of our time showing people how to fix things or handle basic machinery. It is loud sometimes and there is always someone asking a question about a specific tool. We do not mind at all. It is better than sitting in a classroom all day looking at old books. We like seeing someone actually get the hang of a task.
