Xtra Eye

We are set up in Porvorim, right on the ground floor next to the Alcon Hyundai showroom. It’s a pretty easy landmark to find if you’re driving through this part of Goa. Working at Xtra Eye means we see a lot of people coming and going from the car dealership next door. Our place is simple. We deal with various eye-related things, whether it’s checking people’s vision or helping them pick out frames that don't look ridiculous on them. The vibe in Porvorim is a bit different from the beach areas; it feels more like a place where people actually live and work. We have a few mirrors on the walls and those charts with the letters that get smaller at the bottom. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just sit and talk, and other times we have three people in here all wanting something at once. We don’t use any of that high-level marketing talk because it doesn't really fit who we are. We are just local people helping other local people see a bit better. The shop isn't huge, but it’s enough for what we need. We usually have some music playing in the background to keep things from being too silent. It’s a good little spot and we’ve gotten used to the sound of the highway nearby. We just take things one customer at a time and try to be honest about what they need. It’s a job we enjoy, even on the long rainy days.
