Vailankanni Exports operates out of House No. 1061/1 in Bazar Shioda. It is very much a local spot, right in the middle of the bazar. The noise from the market is something we hear all day long, from the vegetable sellers to the motorcycles zooming past. Our setup is pretty basic since we work out of a house. We use the ground floor for most of our business. It is not like those big glass buildings you see in the city. Here, the walls are thick and the floors are stone. We spend our mornings checking the latest requests and getting the items ready. There is a lot of hand-wrapping involved in what we do. We do not have fancy machinery, just a few sturdy tables and some good tape. The light in the bazar area is bright, and we keep the doors open most of the time to let the air in. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to say hello or ask how things are going. It is a friendly way to work. We do not have a big staff, so everyone does a bit of everything, whether it is cleaning up or writing out labels. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we can hardly hear each other talk. We just wait it out and keep moving. It is a humble way to run a business, but it has been our way for a long time.
