Our little place is in Anjuna, over in Bardej. It’s a bit away from the main beach crowds, which we actually prefer. The building is old and has that typical Goa feel to it, with thick walls and a roof that sometimes leaks a little when the rain gets really heavy. We keep things simple inside. There is a lot of wood and some shelves where we display what we have. It’s not a place with bright neon signs or loud music. We like to keep it quiet so people can just walk around and look at things without feeling rushed. The heat in the afternoon can be quite something, so we usually have the windows wide open to catch any breeze that comes through the trees. Most of our days are spent tidying up or talking to the occasional person who wanders in from the road. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who take turns being here. Sometimes we sit outside on the porch when there aren't any customers. You can hear the birds and the sound of bikes passing by. It’s a slow pace of life, which fits the area perfectly. We don't worry too much about having everything perfectly lined up. As long as the shop is clean and the lights are on, we are happy. It’s a good spot to spend the day, and we've made some good friends in the neighborhood.
