Our business is based in Gopaldih village, which is over in the Bagodar area of Giridih. Giridhari Mahto is the one in charge of things here. We're a small construction outfit, mostly working with folks in the local villages and nearby towns. We don't have a big office in the city. Instead, we work right from the village, which helps us stay close to our workers and the projects we take on. Construction out here is different than in the big cities. We deal with what we have and make sure it’s built to last. We do a lot of residential work, helping people get their homes finished or adding on new rooms. It’s a lot of manual labor, mixing cement by hand sometimes and making sure the bricks are laid straight. We know everyone in Gopaldih and the surrounding areas, so we have to do a good job or everyone will hear about it. We aren't interested in being some huge corporation. We just want to keep the business running and provide for our families. The work is hard, especially during the hot months in Jharkhand, but it’s what we know. We just take things one day at a time, making sure each project gets finished properly. It’s a straightforward way of working and it suits us just fine. No fancy promises, just bricks and sand.
