Akhtar Bricks

Our place is right on the Main Road in Pachamba, over in the Bishanpur area. We are located very close to the Masjid, so you can't really miss us if you are driving through. It is a simple brick yard. We spend our mornings getting the kilns ready and making sure the clay is just right for the next batch. It gets pretty dusty out here, especially when the wind picks up on the main road. My family has been around this area for a long time. We just make the bricks and wait for the tractors to come pick them up for delivery. Sometimes the rain slows us down, and we have to cover everything up quickly to keep the moisture out. It’s hard work, and our hands are always dirty from the mud and the soot from the fire. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Usually, we just stand outside or sit on a wooden bench near the entrance to talk to anyone who stops by. The Masjid is a good landmark for people who aren't from around here. Life in Bishanpur is quiet enough, except for the heavy traffic on the road. We keep the stacks of bricks lined up along the side of the yard. It is just honest work. We wake up early, do the work, and go home when the sun sets. There isn't much more to it than that. We just try to keep enough stock for whoever needs it for their house or a garden wall.
