Balaji Ice Cream

We've been here on Haveli Street for quite a while now. Most people know Jalaram Chowk in Kodinar, so it's not hard to find us if you're coming from Veraval Road. It’s just a small spot where we keep the freezers running all day. I started this because I just liked the idea of having a place where kids could get something cold in the afternoon heat. It gets really dusty outside sometimes, but inside stays cool. We don't have fancy furniture or anything like that. Just some chairs and the ice cream we make. People stop by after work or when they are out shopping nearby. Sometimes we run out of certain flavors by the evening, especially if it’s a weekend. I try to keep everything simple. The shop isn't big, but it works for us. My nephew helps out behind the counter most days. We keep the place clean, or at least we try to, even when it gets busy with the school crowd. It's funny how everyone has their favorite flavor that they never change. You see the same faces every week. That’s just how it is here in Kodinar. We aren't trying to do anything world-changing, just keeping the lights on and the scoops moving. If you’re passing the chowk, you’ll see our sign. It’s nothing special, just a regular shop where you can sit for ten minutes and eat something sweet before heading home.
