National Dairy Development Board

I’ve been working here at this branch of the National Dairy Development Board for quite a while now. We are located at 4-6-98, on the road that goes from Komarole to Giddalur, right in the Rajupalem area. It is a busy stretch of road, especially in the early hours of the morning when the sun is just coming up. That’s when the milk collectors and the local farmers start arriving with their cans. You can hear the metal clanging from way down the street. Our job is mostly about testing the milk and keeping track of the numbers in the big ledgers we have. It’s not a fancy office job by any means; we are mostly on our feet on the concrete floor. The smell of fresh milk is everywhere, which you get used to after a couple of days. We talk to the farmers about their cows and how the weather is affecting the feed. It’s a lot of practical, everyday stuff. Sometimes the equipment acts up and we have to wait for the technician to come out from the city, which can take a while. We just do our best to keep things moving so the milk doesn’t sit out too long in the heat. It’s a vital part of life around here, even if it feels like a lot of repetitive work. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily intake as it comes.
