Adarsh General Stores

Adarsh General Stores is out in Dullahpur Village, which is part of the Jakhania Block. We are situated right near the Station Road, so we get a lot of people passing through on their way to catch a train. The shop isn't very large, but we try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves. It’s mostly just one big room with a counter at the front. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. We spend our days chatting with the locals who come in for their daily bits and pieces. There’s always someone leaning against the doorframe talking about the weather or the latest news from the village. It can get pretty quiet during the middle of the day when the sun is high, but then it picks up again in the evening. We don't have a fancy computer system to track everything; we mostly just remember where things are and use a notebook for the rest. Sometimes the shelves look a bit empty when the delivery truck is late, but that’s just how it goes in a village. We’ve been here near Station Road for a long time and we’ve seen a lot of changes in Dullahpur. Even so, the store stays pretty much the same. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk in.
