Vijay Watch Center

Vijay Watch Center is right in the middle of the Main Bazar in Loni. If you know the area, you know how hectic it can get with the carts, the bikes, and everyone trying to get through the narrow lanes. Our shop is one of those places that has stayed the same while things around it have changed. We have a small wooden counter where we sit and take in whatever work comes our way. There is always a layer of dust on the front window from the street, no matter how many times we clean it. It is just part of being in Loni. We spend our hours hunched over small benches with a magnifying glass held to one eye. It is quiet work in a loud neighborhood. We don’t have a website or any fancy signs, just the name Vijay Watch Center painted up front. The shop is filled with the steady rhythm of clocks on the walls, which is a nice contrast to the shouting and horns outside in the bazar. People come in with watches that haven't worked in years, and we see what we can do. It is practical work, and we don't try to make it seem like more than it is. We stay open until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. Then we lock up and do it all again the next day. It is just a local spot for local people.
