Manisha Fabrics

Down in Sector 4 of Vaishali, we have a small place we call Manisha Fabrics. It’s mostly rolls of cloth and the sound of big scissors hitting the wooden table. We spend our days measuring out meters of fabric for people who live nearby. It isn't a fancy boutique. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but the shelves are full, and that is what matters to us. We’ve lived in Vaishali for years, so moving the business here made sense. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding the right turn in Sector 4, but we usually go out to the main road to wave them in. My sister does most of the organizing while I handle the heavy lifting of the cotton and silk bolts. We have a couple of old chairs for anyone who needs to sit while we find the right color. It gets a bit hot in the summer because the sun hits the front window directly. We use a lot of old-fashioned ledgers to keep track of what we have. It’s just how we learned to do it. You won’t find any shiny displays here, just a lot of thread and stacks of material that we move around every day. We know our regulars by their first names. It’s a local life, and we are fine with that.
