Utkal Trading Corporation

Utkal Trading Corporation is tucked right into the Maliwara area, specifically near Maliwara Chowk. If you’ve ever been down there, you know it’s a tight squeeze with a lot going on at once. The streets are narrow and there’s always someone moving a cart or a truck trying to unload something. We’ve been part of this chaos for a long time. Our space is filled with whatever we’re trading at the moment, and it’s usually stacked pretty high to make use of the room we have. It’s the kind of place where you have to know where everything is because it’s not always obvious to someone walking in for the first time. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or talking to the other traders nearby. It’s a community of sorts, everyone knows each other’s business. We don't go in for fancy signs or modern decor because that’s not what Maliwara is about. It’s about getting the goods in and getting them out to the customers. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets blocked, but we just wait it out and get back to it. It’s a busy life but it’s what we know. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just a few of us in the office and the warehouse area making sure things run as smooth as they can in such a crowded spot, even when things get a little disorganized.
