National Book Shop

You can find us at S M World in Shalimar Garden, over in Sahebabad Sector 23. National Book Shop isn’t one of those massive chains where everything is perfectly categorized and plastic-wrapped. We have stacks of books everywhere, and sometimes you have to move a pile to find what’s underneath. The air has that old paper smell that you only get in places like this. We carry everything from school textbooks to novels that people read on the bus. It’s usually quiet here, except for the sound of someone flipping through pages or the murmur of people asking for a specific title. We’ve been in this part of Sahebabad for a while now, and we know many of the students and parents who come in every year for their supplies. The shelves are a bit crowded, and the lighting is a bit dim in the back corners, but most people don't mind that at all. We just like having books around us. Sometimes we get new stock in and it takes us a few days to even get it on the shelves, so there are boxes sitting in the aisles. It’s a bit of a mess, but a good kind of mess. If you're looking for something, we usually know if we have it or not without needing a computer to tell us. It’s just a neighborhood shop for people who still like the feel of a real book in their hands. We stay open pretty late most days because that's when people have time to stop by.
