At Raja Fashion Taliors & Garments, we spend most of our hours behind the machines. Being located near Ambedkar Bhawan by the Dasna Gate in Kallupura puts us right where the action is. There’s always someone walking by or a bike zooming past the front door. We have piles of fabric everywhere, mostly because we never seem to have enough shelf space for everything people bring in. The sound of the sewing machines is basically the background music of our lives. It’s a busy little corner. We do a lot of fixing and stitching for the people who live nearby. It’s not like those big fancy shops you see in the malls. Here, things are a bit more personal. We know how people like their clothes to fit. Sometimes we stay late when there is a lot of work to finish before a festival or a wedding. My hands are usually covered in chalk marks or threads by the end of the shift. We’ve been at this for a long time, and we don’t really know any other way to work. It’s about getting the job done right so the person is happy when they try it on. Dasna Gate is a landmark for most people, so finding us isn't too hard. We just keep our heads down and keep working through the orders as they come in.
