Over at 39/3 in Lal Quarter, near Lohia Nagar in Ghaziabad, you’ll find Orient Fashions Export (I) Pvt. Ltd. It’s a busy area, and the road can be a bit of a mess, especially during the monsoon. We’ve been working out of this location for a while now. The building is functional, nothing more. We have the cutting tables and the sewing machines set up, and there’s always a hum of activity from the moment we open up. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find people in suits. We’re usually in our regular clothes, covered in a bit of lint or thread by the end of the shift. We export quite a bit, so there’s always pressure to meet shipping dates. If a container is leaving, everyone is on their feet moving boxes and checking labels. It can be stressful, but we’ve got a good group of people who know what they’re doing. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or expensive office chairs. We’d rather just focus on making sure the stitching is straight and the orders are complete. It’s a local business with a lot of moving parts. Sometimes things break down or we have a bit of a disagreement about a pattern, but we always work it out eventually. It’s just how we run things here in Ghaziabad every single day.
