Om Gift Center

Down in Simbhali, which is a part of Hapur, you will find our small business called Om Gift Center. It is a straightforward place where we sell different types of gifts to the people who live around here. Hapur is a place we know well, and Simbhali has its own quiet pace of life. Our shop is just a modest building on the street. No big team of employees works here; it is just us managing everything from the inventory to the daily cleaning. Most mornings, we open the shutters early before the sun gets too high. The shelves are filled with things we think people might need for weddings or local birthdays. When it is very quiet, we spend the time looking out at the road or organizing the back room. Other times, several people come in at once and things get a bit hectic for a while. No big mission statements are needed here. We just want to keep the shop running and provide for our family. The floor is made of simple tiles and the walls are painted a plain color. All the bookkeeping is done in a handwritten ledger. This traditional way of running a business suits us fine. We like the independence of it. People in Simbhali know where we are, so we don't bother with advertising. We just sit on our stools and wait for the next person to walk through the door.
