Nursery Lives

Our place is at 249 Sihani Gate in Ghaziabad. If you know where the Central Bank of India is, we’re right near there. It’s a pretty old part of town, so things are always a bit crowded and noisy. We spend our time looking after plants and making sure they don’t dry out in the summer heat. Ghaziabad can be really tough on greenery. We have rows of saplings and flowers that we keep an eye on every day. It’s mostly just us getting our boots dirty and dealing with bugs or bad soil. We aren’t some big commercial operation with fancy labels on everything. Half the time, we’re just scribbling names on plastic pots with a marker. People from the neighborhood come by looking for something to put on their porch or in a small garden patch. We tell them what grows fast and what’s probably going to die if they forget to water it for two days. It’s honest work. The shop isn't much to look at, just a lot of green stuff and bags of fertilizer stacked in the corner. We’ve been at Sihani for a bit, so the locals know where to find us. Sometimes we run out of stock when a big truck doesn't show up on time, but that’s life here. We just do our thing and hope the plants stay healthy. There’s always someone around to help load a bag into your car.
