R. K Textiles

Our place, R. K Textiles, is tucked away in Gali No 1 on Sara Road in the Manavatapuri area. It is a bit of a long address to write down, but once you are in Govindpuri near Modi Nagar, it is not too hard to find. We are over in Ashok Vihar Phase 2. The building is older and the rooms are filled with the smell of fresh cloth and heavy rolls of fabric. There isn't much space to move around once the new stock arrives. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and moving piles of textiles from one side of the room to the other. It gets a bit chaotic when three things happen at once, like a phone call coming in while a truck is trying to reverse into the narrow lane outside. Modi Nagar is known for this kind of work, so we fit right in with the rest of the neighborhood. The lighting inside isn't the best, so we often take samples to the doorway to see the colors properly in the sunlight. We have a small kettle for tea and a few chairs for when customers come by to discuss their requirements. It’s a simple setup. No one wears a suit here. We are usually covered in bits of thread or dust by the end of the shift. It is just honest work in a busy part of town where everyone is trying to make a living.
