Metro Footwear

Metro Footwear is right across from Ocean Plaza in Shalimar Garden Extension 2, at B 9. Being opposite a big place like the plaza means we see a lot of people walking by, but our shop is a bit more straightforward. We keep the boxes stacked up high against the walls, almost reaching the ceiling in some spots. It makes the place feel a bit like a maze sometimes. We spend the day helping people find something that doesn't pinch their toes. It’s a lot of bending down and putting shoes back in boxes. The floor gets a bit scuffed from everyone trying on different sizes. We don't have those fancy automatic doors or soft music playing. It’s mostly just the sound of the fans and the chatter from the street outside. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the view of the shop for an hour or so, but that’s just how it is in this part of Shalimar Garden. We have a couple of old chairs for people to sit on while they try things on. They aren't the most comfortable, but they do the job. We know a lot of the families around here. They come in for school shoes or something for the office. It’s a simple business. We open up, sweep the front, and wait to see who needs a new pair of shoes that day. We keep an extra light on in the back because it gets dark in those tall aisles of shoe boxes.
