Maruti Spring India is located at 42/41 in Site-4, which is the industrial area in Sahibabad. It’s a pretty busy place most days. You can hear the sound of metal being bent and formed from way out on the street. We’ve been making all kinds of springs here for quite a while now. We have all kinds of sizes and shapes laying around on the shelves and the floor. Some are for cars and some are for small machines. It’s a greasy job and our hands are always dirty. The workers here have been with us for years. We don’t really have a big corporate hierarchy or fancy titles. I’m usually right on the floor helping out with the machines. Sahibabad can get very dusty, especially when the wind picks up in the summer. We just keep the big fans going and get on with the work. People come to us when they need something specific that they can't find in a regular hardware store. We take the measurements and see what we can do to make it work. It’s not always fast work because getting the tension right on a spring takes time and patience. We don't make promises we can't keep to our customers. If a machine breaks down, we spend the afternoon fixing it ourselves. It’s a practical life. We have a small corner for tea breaks where we sit and talk about everyday stuff. It’s just a normal factory doing normal work. We like it that way.
