Bharat Pipe & Sanitary Stores is right on G. T. Road. You can find us right opposite the Hydle Elect. Sub. Station. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows where the power station is. We have a lot of space here, which is good because toilet seats and sinks take up a lot of room. We have rows of white ceramic basins stacked up. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. We also keep a lot of plumbing pipes outside. The dust from G. T. Road settles on everything, so we have to wipe the displays down every morning. My nephew helps me with the lifting. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name painted above the door. Most people stop by because they saw the stacks of pipes from the road. We sell a lot of water tanks too. Those big black plastic ones. They sit out front in the sun. It’s a simple business. We don't have a computer for the bills; we just write them out by hand in a big ledger. Sometimes the electricity goes out—ironic since the sub station is right there—and we just sit in the shade of the shop until it comes back. We know the truck drivers who bring the supplies. They usually stay for a cup of tea. It’s a busy road but we like the spot. We’ve been here long enough that we don't think about the noise anymore.
