Fiem Auto Pvt. Ltd. operates out of Unit-Ii, No. 391, in the Nandakiran Indl. Estate. This is down on Hosur Road near Chandapura. It’s a strictly industrial area, so there are always trucks and heavy vehicles moving around. Our unit is basically a large shed with lots of machinery inside. It’s noisy and there’s always the smell of oil and metal in the air. We have a small office area partitioned off, but most of the action happens on the floor. We spend our shifts making sure the production is moving along. It’s not a glamorous job, and we all end up with grease on our hands by the end of the day. The estate itself is quite large and it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know the numbers. We’ve been at No. 391 for a good while now. The summers are tough because the metal roof gets very hot, but we have some big fans to keep the air moving. We don't have any fancy landscaping or a lobby. It’s just a gate, a yard, and the workshop. Most of our day is spent talking over the noise of the machines. We have a small group of workers who have been with us for a long time. We just focus on getting the parts out and making sure the trucks are loaded correctly. It is honest, hard work every day.
