Fancy Footwear

Even though the name says Fancy Footwear, we are a pretty plain shop located at Sh-5 in Shastri Nagar. We don't have any of those bright lights or fancy carpets you see in the malls. The shop smells like leather and rubber most of the time, which is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We have rows of slippers and shoes lining the walls. Shastri Nagar is a busy place, and there is always someone popping in because their sole came loose or they need something cheap for walking. The counter is old wood and has scratches from years of use. We don't really follow a strict schedule; we open when we get here and stay until the street gets quiet. It’s a lot of work keeping track of all the sizes in the back room. Sometimes it takes a minute to find the matching left shoe in the mess of boxes. We use a long metal shoehorn that’s been here forever. The neighborhood kids sometimes run past and trip over the display we put out front. We just laugh and set it back up. It’s not a complicated life. We sell footwear to people who need to get from one place to another. That’s about it for us here on this little stretch of road. We've been through rainy seasons where the street floods and dry ones where the dust is thick, but we are still here. The old clock on the wall is usually five minutes fast.
