Tabla Tarang Musical Store

My dad started this place a long time ago and I just sort of took over when he couldn't do the heavy lifting anymore. We are right across from Sophia Apartment, and it gets really loud when the kids from St. Francis School get out for the afternoon. We have tablas sitting everywhere you look. Some are brand new and some are just old ones people brought in for us to fix up. It’s a bit of a mess in here sometimes but we know where every single tool is kept. People come in to get their instruments tuned or they just stop by to see what we have in stock that week. I grew up around the sound of drums and strings my whole life. It's not a big fancy showroom, just a small shop where we keep the music going. We spend most of our day tightening skins and checking the wood quality of the barrels. Usually, there's a lot of traffic and noise outside. If you're walking near the school, you'll see our door. We don't have much of a sign, but everyone around here knows where Tabla Tarang is. We handle different kinds of instruments, but mostly the traditional ones people need for their local classes. It’s hard work on the fingers and my hands are always a bit calloused, but it’s what we do. The shop is small and smells like old wood and polish. Sometimes we sit outside and watch the cars go by when things are slow. It’s just how things have always been here.
