Nasim Handicraft is situated right across from Jayaprakash Park in Bodh Gaya. It is a really nice location, especially when the trees are full and there are plenty of people out for a walk. We have been in this spot for quite a long time now. Our workshop is filled with all sorts of tools and bits of materials from the projects we are currently working on. It gets quite dusty in here because of all the carving and sanding, but that is just part of the craft. We don't have a formal showroom or anything like that. People usually just wander in while they are visiting the park or the nearby temples. We don't have a prepared speech to give them. We just show them what we are working on at the moment. It is a family business, and many of us learned how to do this work from our elders. We try to keep those traditional ways alive. Bodh Gaya has a very specific feel to it, and we try to reflect that in our work. We aren't interested in mass-producing things with big machines. We like the small imperfections that come from doing things by hand. It makes the work feel more real to us. We just keep our shop open and wait for the next person to stop by.
