Matr Art And Crafts is over in Manpur, which is a part of Gaya. We are specifically located in the Lakhibag area. Gaya is a place with a lot of history and we feel like our crafts fit right in. We aren't a big industrial factory. Our setup is much smaller and more personal. We work with local artisans and people who know how to make things with their hands. Most of the stuff we have in our office is handmade and looks a bit different from things you buy in a regular store. We spend our days looking at new designs and talking to the people who actually make the items. It’s a lot of back and forth. Manpur is known for its weaving and craft traditions, so we are in the right spot for this kind of work. We don't have a fancy website or a huge team of managers. It’s just a handful of us trying to keep these traditional crafts going. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right materials, and sometimes the weather makes it difficult to dry things properly, but we deal with it. We aren't trying to be a global brand or something like that. We just want to sell some nice crafts and help the local makers here in Bihar make a living. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except when we are trying to meet a big order before a deadline. We just keep at it.
