Buddhist Pilgrimage

We are located at No. 7 in the Medium Shopping Complex, which is right near the Chinese Temple here in Bodhgaya. Buddhist Pilgrimage is the name we use, but most people just know us as the guys in the shop near the temple. Being in Bodhgaya, we see people from all over the world every single day. It’s a very spiritual place, but for us, it’s also just where we work and live. The shopping complex is a bit old, and we’ve been in this unit for quite a while. We spend a lot of time talking to visitors and helping them figure out where to go or what to see. It’s not a big fancy travel agency. We have some chairs, a desk, and a lot of brochures that are starting to curl at the edges because of the heat. Most days are spent drinking tea and waiting for the next group to arrive. We don’t have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just know the area well and we share what we know with whoever asks. The Chinese Temple is a good landmark, so we usually just tell people to look for that and they’ll find us. It gets very crowded during the festival seasons, and we end up working long hours then. But during the off-season, it’s quiet enough that we can just sit and watch the world go by from our front door.
