Bodh Gaya Handicraft

You can find us in Row 1 of the Super Market. It’s a crowded place, especially on the weekends when people are out looking for things to decorate their homes. We’ve got all sorts of things packed into this small space. There’s statues, carvings, and small trinkets everywhere you look. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes when more than two people come in at once. We spend a lot of time just dusting things off because the market gets quite a bit of foot traffic. Being in Row 1 means we see everyone who walks in the main entrance. It’s mostly just us sitting on our stools waiting for the next person to ask a question about a wooden bowl or a stone figure. We don't really have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where everything is hidden on the shelves. Sometimes we get shipments that take all day to unpack, and the floor gets covered in straw and newspaper. We don't do much advertising; people just stumble upon us while they’re doing their shopping. It’s a quiet life for the most part, even with the noise of the market outside. We like the pieces we sell, but at the end of the day, it’s just a shop. We open up in the morning, drink our tea, and stay until the market closes up for the night. It is just how it goes here.
