Annapurna General Store

Annapurna General Store is just a small shop in Bahadurpur, Kalyanpur. We are right near the Government School, which means we get a lot of kids coming in for snacks and pencils during their breaks. It’s a pretty busy little spot during the day. We try to keep a bit of everything on the shelves, from soap and cooking oil to notebooks for the students. The shop isn't very big, so things are stacked pretty high against the walls. To be honest, it can get a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is kept. If someone needs something specific and we don’t have it, we usually try to get it in the next time the delivery truck comes by from the city. Living and working in Bahadurpur is quiet for the most part, except for when the school bell rings. We’ve known most of the families around here for years. It’s the kind of place where people stop to chat for ten minutes even if they only came in to buy a single matchbox. We don’t have a website or any of that stuff. We just open the shutters every morning and see who walks through the door. It’s a simple business and it keeps us busy enough. Sometimes the dust from the road gets into the shop, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and packets. That’s just life in a village shop and we wouldn't change it much.
