I’m Amit Sinha and I operate out of First Lane over in Koeri Bari. Being in Gaya, we get a lot of different people coming through the area for various reasons. It’s a place with a lot of history, but our day-to-day life is actually pretty ordinary. The office is just a small room in the lane where I handle all my affairs. It’s not a corporate setting with glass walls or shiny floors. Instead, it’s got old wooden chairs and plenty of paper everywhere on the desk. I like it that way because it feels real and lived-in. Sometimes the neighborhood kids are playing outside in the street and it gets a bit loud, but it’s a good kind of energy to have around while you work. I don't spend money on marketing or trying to get people to notice us in the papers. If someone needs my help, they usually find me by asking around the lane or from a neighbor. It’s a very local way of doing things, which suits me just fine. I grew up around here, so I know the shortcuts and the people in the community. We don’t have a big mission statement written on the wall to impress anyone. We just try to get the work done before it gets too dark to see the documents. It’s simple, really. Some days are slow and some days I’m rushing to finish everything, but that’s just how life is when you’re running your own small thing in Bihar.
