Our shop is right in the thick of things at Shop No 1528/28 in Nai Wala, Karol Bagh. If you’ve ever been to Karol Bagh, you know how crowded and loud it gets with all the shops and people moving around. We deal with knitting machines, so our space is packed with heavy metal parts, gears, and the smell of machine oil. It’s a narrow shop, like many others in Nai Wala, with shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. I’ve spent years climbing up and down ladders to find specific bolts or needles for customers who come from all over the city. The floor is usually a bit greasy, and no matter how much we sweep, there’s always a bit of metal dust in the corners. It’s a tough environment but it’s what we know. We don't have any fancy displays, just the machines themselves and the tools we use to fix them. Usually, there’s a radio playing somewhere in the background to help pass the time when things get slow. Most of our regulars are local garment makers who’ve been buying from us for a long time. They know the tea shop across the lane is where we usually are if the shutter is down for lunch. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing business, just face-to-face and focusing on the mechanical stuff that actually matters.
