Syndicate Binders

Down in Noida Phase-II Extension, at A-20 in the Hosiery Complex, you’ll find Syndicate Binders. It’s a loud place most of the time because the binding machines never seem to stop. We have a lot of paper moving through here, and the smell of industrial glue is something you just get used to after a few days. Our floors are usually covered in little bits of trimmed paper and wire, no matter how much we sweep. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always noise from the neighboring units, but we just focus on our own stacks. We spend hours making sure the covers are aligned and the pages are held together properly. It’s hard work on the hands, especially when we have a big run of books or manuals to finish. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist; you just walk in and see us working. The Hosiery Complex is a busy spot, and we fit right in with the grit and the constant movement. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the afternoon fixing them with grease on our shirts. It’s not pretty, but it’s what we do. We just want to get the orders finished so the trucks can take them away and we can clear some space for the next lot. It’s simple work, but it keeps us on our toes.
