We operate out of Village Saura, which is tucked away in the Malwan area of Fatehpur district. Specifically, you can find us in Tehsil Bindki at Pradeep Pandey’s place. Being out in the village means that things are a bit different than the city; the pace is slower and we have to deal with things like power cuts and muddy roads more often. We spend our time working with textiles, mostly coordinating with local weavers and making sure the cloth gets to where it needs to go. It involves a lot of driving back and forth on the narrow country roads, and sometimes you get stuck behind a tractor for miles. Our setup is very simple, just a large space for storing the fabric and a small desk for the accounts. Pradeep handles most of the local visiting while the rest of us keep track of the stock. It is a very close-knit environment here, and everyone in the village knows what we are doing. We usually have a small radio playing in the background to keep things lively while we check the rolls of cloth for any defects. It is not a fancy business with big goals, we just want to keep the textile trade moving through the tehsil and make sure everyone gets paid on time. It is dusty and hard work, but it keeps us busy every day. We usually finish up when the light starts to fade.
