Nayi Disha Naari Kalyan Foundation

Nayi Disha Naari Kalyan Foundation is based in Sector 9, at the Sunworld Vanalika complex. We are way up on the 14th floor of Tower T 9, in unit 1401. It’s a bit different from being on a busy street corner. From up here, you get a good view of the area, and it’s a lot quieter than the ground level. We focus on naari kalyan, which means we spend our time working on things that help women in our community. The office is basically an apartment that we’ve set up for work. It has a kitchen where we make way too much tea and a living area where we hold our meetings. It feels very informal and comfortable, which we think is important for the kind of work we do. We don't have a receptionist at a big desk. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just lets people in. It’s a small team, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering phones to cleaning up after a long day. Sometimes the elevators in the tower take forever, so we’ve learned to be patient. We like being in this part of Sector 9. It’s modern but still feels like a neighborhood. We don't have any big corporate goals; we just want to help out the women who come to see us.
