Hopegivers Welfare Foundation

Hopegivers Welfare Foundation is based at 511/40-5/New-61, on Rai Bihari Lal Road. Specifically, we are inside Sitaram Bhawan in New Hyderabad. It’s an older building with a lot of character and history. You can tell it’s been around for a long time by the way the doors creak. The rooms are high-ceilinged but sometimes a bit dark even during the day. We’ve set up our workspace in one of the main sections. Rai Bihari Lal Road is usually crowded with people and cars, so there is always something to see out the window when we look out. New Hyderabad is a good place to be, it feels central to everything in the city. Inside Sitaram Bhawan, it’s a bit quieter than the busy street outside. We have heaps of paper and old ledgers lying around on the shelves. We aren't very high-tech here. We still use notebooks for a lot of our planning and record keeping. It’s just how we’ve always done it and it works fine. The floor is that old-fashioned stone that stays cool even in the peak of summer. We have a small kettle for making tea during the afternoons. A few of us sit together and go over what needs to be done for the week ahead. There is no boss walking around in a suit. We just talk through things like neighbors would. It’s a relaxed atmosphere, though we do stay on top of our daily chores. That's life here.
