Cosmic Architects

Over at Sector 15, number 77, you will find Cosmic Architects. We picked the name because we like to think a bit bigger, but day-to-day work is mostly about local stuff here in the neighborhood. The office is a modest space where we do all our thinking and drawing. It is often a bit messy with rolls of paper and half-finished models sitting on the tables. We are a small group, and we’ve been working together for a long time, so we know how to stay out of each other's way. Our work involves a lot of sitting and staring at walls until an idea finally comes. Then we have to figure out if that idea is actually legal and safe to build. That’s the part of the job that takes the most time. We don't have a fancy website or a salesperson. Most people find us because they saw one of our houses being built nearby and asked who did the drawings. We like it that way because it means the work speaks for itself. Sector 15 is a good place for us; it’s quiet enough to get work done but close enough to the main parts of town. We just try to do a decent job for whoever walks through the door. Sometimes we stay late when a project is moving fast, and other times it’s quiet enough to go home early. It's a balance we have finally found after years.
