Apna Adhikar Janhit Samaj Seva Foundation is on the ground floor of Madhusudhan Bhawan. Being at S/4 right by the Nehar bypass means we get a lot of that road noise, but you get used to it after a week or so. The office stays relatively cool because we are on the ground floor, which is a blessing in the summer months. We have these old metal cupboards where we keep all the foundation’s paperwork. It’s not a digital-first kind of place; we still like our files and physical notes. There is a small window that looks out towards the bypass, and sometimes we just watch the trucks go by when we take a break. We aren't trying to impress anyone with fancy décor. There are some plastic chairs for visitors and a sturdy wooden table where we do most of our thinking. The neighbors are good people, mostly small businesses like us. We share the common tap for water. It’s a very basic setup, but it works for what we do. We usually start around ten in the morning and stay until the work feels finished. There’s no punch-in clock or anything like that. We just trust each other to show up and do what’s needed. It’s a bit dusty because of the construction nearby, but we give the desks a wipe every morning and get on with it. It is just a simple place for simple work.
