Ahsan Social Foundation

Our foundation, Ahsan Social Foundation, is tucked away in the Bhelupur area of Varanasi. If you are familiar with the city, you probably know Chetmani Chauraha; we are quite close to that landmark. Specifically, we are at 27/92 K-13 in the Jawahar Nagar Colony. It’s one of those parts of Varanasi that stays busy no matter what time of day it is. There’s always some noise from the street, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We do a lot of social work right out of this small space. It’s not a corporate setup at all. We have some old wooden desks and a lot of files piled up because there is always something to do for the community. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat or ask for advice on local issues, and we try to help out where we can. The foundation isn't run by some big board of directors, just a few locals who live around Bhelupur and wanted to do something useful. Dealing with the traffic in Varanasi is probably the hardest part of our day when we have to go out to meet people. Other than that, we just stay here and work through our list of things to do. We don't have a website that’s updated every day or anything like that, we just handle things as they come. It's a bit messy sometimes, but we get the job done and keep moving forward every single day.
