Avis Wood Craft

Down here in Gauripur, things move a little slower than in the big cities. Avis Wood Craft is situated right near the main market, which is the busiest part of our village. If you come to the post office, you are basically right there. We get all our wood from nearby, and you can usually smell the fresh sawed timber before you even see our gate. We’ve lived in this district of Dhubri all our lives, so we know just about everyone who walks past. Our workspace is pretty open to the air so we can stay cool while we work. It’s a family-run thing mostly, with a few neighbors helping out when we have a big order to get through. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just our hands and the tools we’ve been using for years. When the market is in full swing on certain days, it gets very loud with all the vendors and cattle, but we just keep working. Sometimes people stop by just to chat or watch us carve something. We don’t mind. It’s part of being in a small village like Gauripur. We take pride in knowing where every piece of wood came from and who is going to use it. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from sunrise until it gets too dark to see what we are doing. We like it this way.
