Starmart Supermarket Chain Private Limited is out in Belsandi. It’s a village in the Bithan block, and it’s where we decided to set things up. We are working out of Ajay Kumar Yadav’s premises. In a place like Belsandi Tola, everyone knows everyone, so news travels fast. We aren’t some big city operation with hundreds of people. We’re just local folks trying to keep a shop running in the panchayat. It’s a lot of manual work. You have to handle everything yourself, from unloading the trucks to sweeping the floor. The weather really dictates how the day goes out here. If it rains heavily, the roads get tough. But we stay open regardless. We wanted to bring something reliable to this part of the block so people wouldn’t have to travel so far for every little thing. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we run out of things because the supply chain is slow, but we do what we can. People come in, they chat for a bit, they get what they need, and they head home. It’s a quiet life in Belsandi. We aren't trying to be anything fancy. Just a store with four walls and some shelves, serving the Tola as best as we can every single day. It’s a simple business for a simple place. We spend a lot of our time just making sure the stock is fresh and the shelves are not bare for the next person who walks through the door.
